Pryor Shines, Raiders Fall to Bolts

Terrelle Pryor made his first official NFL regular season start yesterday to end the Raiders' season. The last pick of the late Al Davis, Pryor completed 13 of 28 passes for 150 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT as well as rushing for 49 yards for 1 TD, but one costly decision to stay in bounds at the end of the 2nd quarter lead to the Raiders downfall as they come up short against the Chargers 21-24. Darren McFadden had 19 carries for 57 yards and Rod Streater lead the team in receptions with 4 receptions for 77 yards while Brandon Myers came in 2nd also with 4 receptions for 53 yards.

Final Score: @ San Diego 21-24 [L]

Final Record: 4-12, .250, 3rd AFC West, Home: 3-5, Road: 1-7, Div: 2-4, Conf: 4-8, Non-Conf: 0-4,

Final Word: Thank God the torture is over. No high expectations coming into this season. Hard to believe this team went from an 8-8 team the last two seasons to a Jamarcus Russell-esque season of 4-12 this year. I admit, the salary cap issues really screwed us over and Hue Jackson's all-in trade for Carson Palmer last season. 10 years of no playoffs, it's frustrating. Anyways Raider Nation, you may have heard that the Raiders fired Greg Knapp today and most of the coaching staff that specialize in the Zone Blocking Scheme. All I can say is: GOOD F*CKING RIDDANCE AND TAKE YOUR ZBS CRAP WITH YOU AND DON'T COME BACK TO OAKLAND, ESPECIALLY YOU KNAPP! For the draft, I've only got one name in mind: Manti Te'o. It's McKenzie's first season with a full load of picks heading into the draft (I think) and I hope we draft guys who are passionate about the game and will give their all for the team that drafted them. A lot of work to be done guys and hope there is someone who can make an impact to the team whether through the draft or free agency.

Anyways Happy New Year Raider Nation and here's to a better season. Stay tuned all January because I will be recapping the 10 year anniversary of the 2002-03 Raiders. Yes the last team that took pride in the Raider uniform and played their guts out only to fall short in the dreadful Super Bowl XXXVII loss to the Bucs and the last time they made it to the promised land. It'll be fun to recall the season of a Raider team consisting of Rich Gannon, Jerry Rice, Tim Brown, Charles Woodson, Bill Romanowski, Rod Woodson, and others. So stay tuned.

Lakers Back At .500 After Blazers Rout

12/25/12 vs. New York 94-100 [W] < Missed due to spending time with family during Christmas
12/26/12 @ Denver 114-126 [L] < Missed due to illness

A day when the Lakers retired #52 in honor of Jamaal Wilkes, they end the year on a high note with a win against the Blazers in a beating of 87-104 at Staples putting them back at .500. Playing to reach the .500 mark is always a dangerous game. Kobe Bryant lead the Lakers with 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists and added 2 steals while Dwight Howard recorded 21 points and 14 rebounds with 3 blocks. Pau Gasol seems to be finding his rhythm in Mike D'Antoni's offense recording 15 points including 2-3 shooting from behind the 3 point line.

Raiders Banged Up vs. Panthers

Some significant injuries occurred during the game which hurt the Raiders chances of putting some TDs on the board. Matt Leinart filled in for Carson Palmer, who suffered a big hit to the ribcage. Leinart completed 16 of 32 passes for 115 yards, but couldn't get the Raiders into the end zone as they fall to Cam Newton and the Panthers 6-17. Darren McFadden had 17 carries for 33 yards and Darrius Heyward-Bey lead the team in receiving yards with 31 yards an Marcel Reece lead the team in receptions with 4 for 18 yards.

Lakers Triumphant With Nash's Return in Thriller

Probably one of the most entertaining games I've seen from the geographical rival between L.A. and The Bay. Steve Nash, first game back since suffering a fractured fibula, scored 12 points and racked up 9 assists including a couple of big buckets while playing 40+ mins as he was a huge difference maker in the Lakers thrilling 118-115 victory over the Warriors. Kobe Bryant was the Lakers' top performer with 31 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, but in the process, took 41 shots. Dwight Howard added 11 points and big contribution from the bench. MWP gives the Lakers a huge game changer off the bench scoring 20 points while Jodie Meeks and Jordan Hill followed suit with 12 points from Meeks and 14 points and 8 rebounds from Hill.

A Disappointing Victory: Lakers vs. Bobcats

Looks like the stress is ticking in. The Lakers have been on a roll lately and this game has got to be the most bitter, but as usual a win is a win. Kobe Bryant lead the Lakers with 30 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists as the Lake Show spoil Ramon Sessions' return to LA in a frustrating 100-101 victory. Dwight Howard added a double-double with with 16 points and 18 rebounds and Pau Gasol, returning after missing 8 games, added 10 points. MWP seems to have founded a new role as he, along with Jodie Meeks, lead the bench with 17 points.

@ Cleveland 94-100 [L]
@ New York 107-116 [L]

The Lakers could be planning a winning streak after this game regardless if Steve Nash and Pau Gasol are not healthy. Good balanced effort from both the starting lineup and the bench. Kobe Bryant lead the Lakers with 34 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists to help power the team pass the free falling 76ers 111-98. Dwight Howard and Metta World Peace, both players with doubles with Dwight recording 17 points and 11 rebounds and MWP 19 points and 16 rebounds (surprising double-double performance by Metta). Chris Duhon added 14 points and Jodie Meeks and Darius Morris, bright spots off the bench with 12 points from Meeks and 15 points from D-Mo.

Raiders Shut Out Ailing Chiefs

The best player on the Raiders since the team drafted him in the first round of 2000, Sebastian Janikowski bails the Raiders out again with chip shot field goals. It's just regular day in the office for Jano as he scored 5 field goals from 20, 50, 57, 30, 41 yards and missing only one as the Raiders shut out the Chiefs 0-15. The effort was not also just from Sebass, but the defense stepped up, holding the Chiefs to just 119 yards and hold off Jamaal Charles to 10 yards rushing (previously held Charles to 4 yards rushing in week in Kansas City). Darren McFadden, a bright spot today, had 30 carries for 110 yards and Rod Streater lead the team in receptions with 5 for 62 yards.

The Lakers wrap up a three game road trip in a loss to the Western Conference young blood, Oklahoma City Thunder. Kobe Bryant, two days after reaching the 30,000 points mark, lead the Lakers with 35 points, 3 rebounds, and 7 assists, but the Lakers couldn't pull off a miracle and a taste of revenge as the Lakers fell 108-114 to the Thunder. Prime Time Dud: Raiders Fall to Denver...Again

Being that the Broncos are my favorite AFC West rival to hate, I guess I should get used to this as long as Peyton Manning is around. It's been a frustrating season overall an it just didn't get better with this loss to an AFC West rival. Carson Palmer, throwing too much yet again completed 19 of 30 passes for 273 yards connecting 2 TDs and allowed only 1 INT, but what a mess. Even though there were good goal line stands by the defense, the game goes on the offense for failing to put points on the board early; that costed the Raiders to lose to the AFC West runaway leader, Broncos 26-13 as Denver sweeps the Raiders in divisional match ups. Darren McFadden, welcome back, but ZBS is still killing you rushed for 52 on 11 carries and scored his first TD back on a 6 yard reception and Rod Streater lead the team in reception with 4 for 100 yards.

Final Score: vs. Denver 26-13 [L]

Kobe Bryant's 30,000 Career Point Milestone Lifts Lakers Past Hornets

I'm not posting up the Rockets game, but read the full recap here:

It was 1996 that the New Orleans Hornets (previously known as the Charlotte Hornets) drafted a standout high school star in Kobe Bryant out of Lower Merion High School. During the draft, Kobe was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Vlade Divac to make room to sign Shaquille O'Neal via free agency. Throughout his 17 year career in the NBA we've seen Kobe Bryant develop from a high school kid who played basketball for the fun of it to becoming the most competitive, hardworking individual, and above all a legend. Last night, he made history yet again, becoming the youngest player to reach 30,000 points in the NBA. Kobe Bryant was the Lakers' top performer scoring 29 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in a historical night as the Lakers beat the Hornets 103-87.

Final Score: @ New Orleans 103-87 [W]

Next Game: @ Oklahoma City (12/07/12)

Personal Reflection on Kobe's 30,000 milestone: Wow, just 1,000 more to surpass Wilt, 2,000 more to surpass Jordan, 6,000 more to surpass Malone, and 8,000 more to surpass Kareem. Being a Laker fan since the first three-peat, I'm just blessed to witness how far Kobe Bryant has come. I've never seen Michael Jordan in his prime play, the only vivid memories I've seen of MJ are his flu game, his final shot, and his short tenure with the Wizards. However, to witness Kobe growing up, from his afro days, to the dark days during his sexual assault case, and the transfiguration from 8 to 24, he's just something to behold. 5x champ, 2x Finals MVP, 2008 NBA MVP, 2x scoring champ, 14x all-star, all-time leading scorer in Lakers history, and one of the top five in the all-time scoring list. Just speechless, no matter how Kobe Bryant is ranked at the end of his career whether he's top 5, top 10, top 15, or top 100, he's hands down a first ballot HOF. Congrats Kobe, no matter what happens at the end of your career, you're hands down a legend and in my opinion one of the greatest to ever play the game.

Magic Get Revenge From Howard; Lakers Fall to Orlando

It's an old cliche to say "karma is a b*tch." 4 months since the blockbuster trade for Dwight Howard's arrival from Orlando to LA, the Magic healed some old wounds. Kobe Bryant lead the Lakers with 34 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists, but another great game from Kobe couldn't help rally the Lakers as the Lakers fall to Dwight's old team 113-103. Dwight Howard, as mentioned, recorded a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds, but again plagued by poor free throw shooting. MWP added 15 points, Pau Gasol added 11 points, and Antawn Jamison came back down to earth again from his 33 point outburst off the bench vs. the Nuggets, tallying only 10 points.

Nightmarish Story Continues for Raiders vs. Browns

The blowouts are over, but the mental mistakes and momentum killers are not. It's been a horror story for the Raiders and it's time to add the tenth chapter into the book. The Raiders were pass heavy on Carson Palmer the last 5 games with McFadden and Goodson out as Palmer completed 34 of 54 passes for 351 yards, but a costly INT to help the Browns eek out a win in Oakland 20-17 giving them their first road win of the season. Jeremy Stewart had 9 carries for 46 yards to lead the team in rushing yards and a huge game for Brandon Myers with 14 receptions for 130 yards and 1 TD.

Strong Bench Play Helps Lakers Overpower Nuggets

After an abysmal performance against the Pacers, the Lakers obtained some redemption in Friday night's win vs. the Nuggets. Antawn Jamison is getting in sync every game playing as the Lakers' sixth man and scorer off the bench. Jamison was the Lakers' top performer coming off the bench with 33 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 assists to help the Lakers rout the Nuggets 103-122. Dwight Howard came in second also with a double-double of 28 points and 20 rebounds. Jodie Meeks shot lights out, also coming off the bench with 21 points on 7 three pointers, giving Kobe Bryant a break at the shooting guard position as Kobe only tallied 14 points.

Lakers Stunned by Pacers on George Hill's Game Winning Layup

Can't believe after a dominant win against the Mavs, the Lakers would come back down to earth like this. Kobe Bryant, under the weather had a few positives and a few negatives. The Black Mamba fought through sickness leading the Lakers with a double-double of 40 points and 10 rebounds, but committed 10 turnovers , a yin-yang performance by the Lakers' all-time leading scorer. Turnovers, missed free throws, and poor bench play had a lot to do with this game, but the story of this against Indiana was the failure to protect the rim and defending the pick n roll which lead to George Hill's game winning layup to rally the Pacers 79-77. Dwight Howard, good field goal shooting, horrible free throws as he tallied 17 points and Pau Gasol, the other way around what Howard did scored 10 points behind perfect free throw shooting, but awful field goal shooting.

Blown Out Again: Raiders Fall to Bengals on Carson Palmer's Homecoming

Pathetic, pathetic, and even more pathetic. It is just not a happy trail for the Raiders the last 3 games, but rather a nightmare that continues. Carson Palmer felt the heat from Cincinnati fans in his return since being traded to Oakland last season completed 19 of 34 passes for 146 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT, but as usual the Raiders had no answer or the decency to perform as they get a beat down from the Bengals 10-34. Marcel Reece had 15 carries for 74 yards and Jeremy Stewart lead the team in receptions with 6 receptions for 37 yards. Brandon Myers is tied with Jeremy Stewart for most receiving yard this game, although one reception short and Denarius Moore had only one reception for 20 yards for 1 TD. Since the game vs. the Buccaneers, the Raiders have been outscored by the opposition 79-169.

Lakers Bulldoze Mavs

Before I start tonight's post, just want to catch up on the games I missed. I was with family the whole week for the holidays.

11/20/12: vs. Brooklyn 90-95 [W]
11/21/12: @ Sacramento 97-113 [L]
11/23/12: @ Memphis 98-106 [L]

After a two game losing streak on the road, the Lakers came out with a shear sense of anger and frustration and let it all out against Dallas. The bench is finally putting up some scoring without depending on the starters to do all the work. Antawn Jamison, finally the 6th man the Lakers were looking for, had back to back double digit scoring, tonight with a twist of a double-double. Jamison was the Lakers' top performer with 19 points and 15 rebounds as the Lakers beat the pants off the Mavs 115-89. Kobe Bryant and MWP joined Jamison in scoring 19 points, Dwight Howard tallied 13 points, Pau Gasol added 13 points, and Jodie Meeks was the second leading scorer off the bench with 11 points.

Lakers Pull Away vs. Rockets Behind Starting 5

All starters were in double figures in terms of points as the Lakers beat the Rockets 108-119 to reach the .500 mark. Kobe Bryant was the Lakers' top performer, recording another, yet rare triple-double in his 17 year career scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists while Dwight Howard is consistently recording double-doubles, chipping in 28 points and 13 rebounds. Pau Gasol added 17 points, MWP tallied 15 points, and sophomore point guard Darius Morris racked up 12 points, still filling in for injured point guards, Steve Nash and Steve Blake.

Raiders Tap Out vs. Saints

Back to back blowout losses and 3 times the Raiders have given up too many yardage and TDs to opponents. *Yawn* what else is new? Carson Palmer (can't always put the blame on him) completed 22 of 40 passes for 312 yards connecting 2 TDs & 2 INTs (one for a pick 6 by Malcolm Jenkins), but the Raiders just didn't have the talent to matchup with Drew Brees and the Saints' potent, offensive firepower as the Raiders again suffer an embarrassing loss 38-17 with another pathetic display on both sides of the ball. Marcel Reece had a career day though, big positive becoming the leader in rushing and receiving for the Raiders. Reece had 17 carries for 103 yards and 4 receptions for 90 yards.

Metta World Peace, a better, consistent game from him tallying 22 points with 7-14 shooting. Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard each with double-doubles. Lakers Fall To Spurs Late

The Mike D'Antoni era hasn't started yet as Bernie Bickerstaff's brief stint as interim coach ends on a sour note. Kobe Bryant lead the Lakers with 28 points, 4 rebounds, and 8 assists on 12-19 shooting, but couldn't get the ball in his hands for the final shot as the Lakers fall to the San Antonio Spurs 84-82 on a Danny Green go ahead 3 pointer and a forced Pau Gasol 3 pointer that missed. Gasol as mentioned, didn't play well until the 4th tallied 10 points and 10 rebounds, Dwight Howard added 13 points and 15 rebounds, and MWP, still not consistent, tallied 12 points, but missed a crucial 3 pointer that would've given the Lakers a lift from a very close game against a perennial western conference rival.

Replace a Mike with another Mike. The Lakers have hired Mike D'Antoni to replace the fired Mike Brown as the team's head coach for the rest of the 2012-2013 season. Obviously the move has us Lakers fans dismayed, clamoring for the return of the Zen Master, Phil Jackson. D'Antoni has some experiences with Lakers players, particularly Steve Nash, in which both lead the Phoenix Suns to perennial playoff berths and division titles and as an assistant coach of the 2008 Men's Basketball Olympic team with Kobe and Dwight. Under D'Antoni, the Lakers will run a traditional run and gun, pick and roll offense, but the question is how will the defensive side fare since most teams under D'Antoni on defense has been atrocious?

Raiders Plowed by Ravens

A huge letdown for the Raiders on the road. First the run defense did not do good last week against the Bucs, this week, it was the pass defense that was gave out an atrocious effort. Carson Palmer, who owned the Ravens in Baltimore back as a Bengal, completed 29 of 45 passes  for 368 yards with 2 TDs & 1 INT, but couldn't help translate his successes with the Raiders as the Ravens throat punch the Raiders 20-55 behind a stellar game from Joe Flacco. Marcel Reece, filling in for Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson rushed for 48 yards and Denarius Moore lead the team in receptions with 4 for 90 yards and 1 TD.

Lakers Rout Warriors on the Eve of Mike Brown's Firing

The chants of "We Want Phil" echoed around the atmosphere of Staples Center, signifying the return of the Zen Master himself, Phil Jackson to coach this Laker team to the promised land yet again. The sad part is, Bernie Bickerstaff this game coached 10x better than Mike Brown in the last 13 games (including preseason). Kobe Bryant lead the way with 27 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists to help power the Lakers past the Warriors 77-101 to give them their 2nd win of the season. Pau Gasol added 14 points and 16 rebounds and MWP, after a horrendous start finished with 10 points. Lakers Fall to Jazz

The start of the Lakers' special 2012-2013 campaign is becoming horrendous by the minute causing immense amount of trouble on the Purple and Gold side of La La Land. The Lakers drop 0-2 on the road with the loss to the Utah Jazz 86-95. Kobe Bryant lead the Lakers with 29 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, putting this Laker team on his back as usual, even at the age of 34. Almost 6 months without a win since Game 3 vs. the Thunder, but the torture is over for now. The Lakers have snapped an overall 13 game losing streak and avoid an 0-4 start against the Pistons (not a convincing win, but a win's a win). Dwight Howard was the Lakers' top performers scoring 28 points and 7 rebounds on 12-14 shooting as the Lakers beat down the Pistons 79-108. Pau Gasol, a quiet game scored 14 points, MWP, a solid game from him, tallying 18 points, and Jordan Hill, picking up where he left off last season, came off the bench with 11 points. Raiders Keep Game Close, but Dominated by Buccaneers Overall

How the Raiders managed to keep this game close is beyond me. In a game that was dominated by the Buccaneers, the Raiders mustered enough offense without star running back Darren McFadden, who left the game early with a knee injury, leading the Raiders in rushing with 7 carries for 17 yards, but the running game was non-existent all game. It was the passing game lead by Carson Palmer, completing 39 of 61 passes for 414 yards connecting 4 TDs and throwing 3 INTs, that proved to be costly later in the game. However the Raiders defense (yes the same D that shut down Jamaal Charles last week) couldn't tame rookie running back, Doug Martin. Martin's career day with 25 carries for 251 yards and 4 TDs was the difference maker as the Raiders couldn't hang around with the Bucs long enough 42-32.

Final Score: vs. Tampa Bay 42-32 [L]

Lakers Still Winless in Loss to Clippers

Very troubling to see the Lakers start 0-3 in the regular season since the 1978-1979 season, especially loaded with a star-studded team since the 2003-2004 season. This game was all Kobe Bryant. Wow I thought their goal was to limit his minutes after all his wear and tear being in the NBA for 17 seasons? Kobe surpassed Magic Johnson on the all-time steals list in franchise history and lead the Lakers with 40 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist in a losing effort to Lob City Clippers 105-95 (little brother sure outplayed and outhustled big brother tonight). Pau Gasol, also on watch for logging too many minutes, scored 10 points & 14 rebounds and a very quiet game for Dwight Howard, only tallying 13 points.

Did We Gel Yet?: Lakers Lose to Blazers

And soon the media will jump in and scrutinize/question the Lakers like sharks feasting for blood and chunks of meat. The high expectations of the Lakers is starting to fading away slowly and slowly. How long will it take for this team to gel? Will the chemistry click in before everything melts down in a flurry? The Lakers have loss 12 straight games (counting games 4 & 5 against OKC and the 0-8 preseason) prior to tonight's Halloween matchup against the Blazers. Dwight Howard lead the Lakers with 33 points, 15 rebounds,  and 5 assists, but the Lakers withered on the heavy youth and athleticism of the Portland Trail Blazers as they fell 106-116 at the Rose Garden. Kobe Bryant came in second, tallying 30 points, Pau Gasol racked up 16 points, and MWP, much better than last night, but not good enough as he only scored 10 points.

Final Score: @ Portland 106-116 [L]

Humble Pied: Mavs Shell-Shock Lakers

Wake up Lakers, this is not preseason anymore when you guys went 0-8. After an offseason of build up and hype, the Lakers fell flat on the ground, not just in preseason, but on opening night as well against the Dallas Mavericks. Pau Gasol, one of the big 4, thrived in the Lakers' newly installed Princeton Offense tonight recording a double-double of 23 points & 13 rebounds as the Lakers' top performer, but boy were they outplayed by a Dirk Nowitzki-less Mavs. Balance scoring from the Mavs' starters and bench (still the Lakers' weak link) powered the team to a 99-91 victory over the Lakers. Kobe Bryant, bad foot at all, scored 22 points and Dwight Howard in his regular season debut as a Laker scored 19 points & 10 rebounds, but fouled out late in the 4th. With the Lakers' last win against the Thunder in game 3 of the 2nd round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs, the Lakers losses overall tally up with 11 straight losses.

Raiders Claim Win #6 At Arrowhead

A nice all-around game for the Raiders as they extend their winning streak to 6 at Arrowhead Stadium against the hated Kansas City Chiefs beating them 26-16. Carson Palmer completed 14 of 28 passes for 209 with 2 TDs & 1 INT. Darren McFadden had his 100+ yards rushing game for the second time this season as he had 29 carries 114 yards and Denarius Moore had 5 receptions for 96 yards & 1 TD. The main story this game was big plays on defense and special teams. The Raiders' defense caused 4 turnovers, 2 INTs and 2 fumble recovery, one on a muffed punt to allow the offense great opportunity to put points on the board early.

Final Score: @ Kansas City 26-16 [W]

Raiders Pull Ugly Win vs. Jags

Sebass, Sebass, Sebass, what can the Raiders do without your iron leg to bail us out? This game was all around ugly for the Raiders side, but the game still had a pulse thanks to the inspired effort by the defense when the offense was not clicking until the 2nd half. Thanks to crucial plays by the defense and the big leg of Sebastian Janikowski, the Raiders managed to pull through against a struggling Jaguars team 23-26 in OT. Carson Palmer, still efficient, completed 26 of 46 passes for 298 yards with 1 TD & 1 INT as well as rushing for 14 yards and having 1 rushing TD. Darren McFadden, again, wasting our star running back's talent thanks to the crappy ZBS only managed to rush for 53 yards, & Darrius Heyward-Bey had 4 receptions for 85 yards.

Final Score: vs. Jacksonville 23-26 (OT) [W]

Missed Opportunity: Raiders Last Minute Loss vs. Falcons

The good, the bad, and the ugly showed here for the Raiders as they missed an opportunity to shift the NFL landscape by beating the undefeated Falcons. The Raiders played with heart in this game, testing the jump start Falcons lead by Matt Ryan physically and mentally, but that was negated by a crucial INT and you guessed it: penalties as a last minute FG by Matt Bryant put the Falcons past the Raiders 20-23. Matt Ryan had 3 INTs in the game by great defensive efforts by Joselio Hanson, Tyvon Branch, & Michael Huff. Carson Palmer completed 23 of 33 passes for 353 yards & 1 TD, but killed momentum thanks to Asante Samuel's pick 6 from Palmer. Darren McFadden had a decent game in the run and in the pass with 27 carries for 70 yards & 1 TD and 3 receptions for 28 yards. Denarius Moore, a monster game, lead the team in receptions with 5 for 104 yards & 1 TD.

No Lakers Preseason Recaps This Year

There's a reason the Lakers' preseason recap vs Warriors is not posted up. Just for this year, for a little clarification, I won't be covering any Laker preseason games, but I will still cover Laker regular season games & playoff games. I apologize for the inconvenience. Expect posts beginning with the October 30th home opener vs the Mavericks.

Denver Disgrace: Raiders Man Handled by Broncos

The Raiders' four game winning streak at Mile High came to a disgraceful end today by a no show of effort and determination. Carson Palmer, hit around a lot due to weak blocking by the line just managed to complete 19 of 34 passes for 202 yards, but pales in contrast to Peyton Manning's stats. The Raiders defense absolutely had no answer for Manning as the Raiders just chipped in two field goals by Sebastian Janikowski, absolutely dominated by the Broncos 6-37. Darren McFadden, the "Broncos killer", didn't run wild, still struggling under the ZBS only rushed for 34 yards, paling also in contrast to Willis McGahee's stats, who rushed for 112 yards & 1 TD against the defense. Bye week, what's it gonna be? Finally a put up or just another shut up? DB's help wanted.

Comeback Kings: Raiders Outlast Steelers

The Raiders bounce back after two frustrating losses in a big way. Though the Steelers out gained the Raiders the whole game in terms of yardage, crucial turnovers and big plays decided the outcome as the Raiders upset Big Ben and the Steelers 31-34 thanks to a 45 yard game winning field goal by Sebastian Janikowski to cap off a big rally. Carson Palmer threw 209 yards completing 24 of 34 passes for 3 TDs & 1 INT. Darren McFadden rushed for over 113 yards, including a big 64 yard TD run to answer the Steelers points off turnovers. Tight End, Brandon Myers continues to be a sleeper on this offense having 4 receptions for 55 yards.

Raiders' East Coast Jinx Continues With Loss vs. Dolphins

The "New Era of Excellence" slogan took yet another setback. The Raiders couldn't overcome the East Coast time zone on the road. Carson Palmer threw more incomplete passes than his completed ones as he was just 24 of 48 for 373 including a TD to back up running back, Mike Goodson for a 64 yard catch & run as the Raiders lose 13-35 to the Dolphins lead by a Reggie Bush's big game. The running game for the Raiders was as flat as a pancake as star running back Darren McFadden only rushed for 22 yards. Don't be surprise if there's a blackout in next week's home matchup against the Steelers.

New Era, Same Ol' Shenanigans: Raiders vs. Chargers

A really frustrating start to this new era especially for me personally. Never mind, don't want to take this post on a personal level. The defense did it's part, other than giving up one touchdown to Malcom Floyd from Philip Rivers due to flashbacks of the horrible penalties, but the offense, just a very slow start until using the "too little too late" method to get in sync. The loss of Jacoby Ford & Denarius Moore seriously made this team one-dimensional all game long. Carson Palmer & Darren McFadden, particularly McFadden, had to carry the load on offense as Palmer completed 32 passing of 46 attempts for 297 yards & 1 TD & McFadden was the team's leader in rushing & receiving rushing for 32 yards with 15 carries & 13 receptions for 86 yards as the Raiders fall 22-14.

Raiders End Preseason With Loss

Not a lot of action in the final game. The raiders rested their starters to prep up for their regular season opener. Terrelle Pryor, after showing some confidence week 3, did not do much completing 6 of 9 passes for 55 yards (the passing game was just dismal all game with lackluster effort by Pryor & Matt Leinart) as the Raiders lose 3-21. Same goes for the running game as Mike Goodson rushed for 26 yards & Eddie McGee lead all receivers with 3 receptions for 36 yards.

Raiders End 6 Preseason Game Losing Streak vs. Lions

The Raiders finally got over the hump in preseason dating back to the 2012 preseason. Terrelle Pryor showed his true colors leading the raiders in passing & rushing completing 3 of 5 passes for 137 yards & 2 TDs & rushed 90 yards for 1 TD as the Raiders beat the Lions 20-31, somewhat getting revenge against a team that costed them a playoff berth last season. Juron Criner also came out of his shell having 2 receptions for 115 yards & 2 TDs.

Raiders Fall to Cards

Good try, good effort, no cigar though. That's what the Raiders did after a slow start to the preseason. Under Dennis Allen, the penalties continue to be a vast improvement as the Raiders were only penalized 4 times giving up 27 yards while the Cardinals had 10 giving up 103 yards. Carson Palmer was looked like he was in midseason form completing 13 of his 24 passes for 107 yards, but the Cardinals put up a better effort as they beat the Raiders 27-31 in the second preseason game. Lonyae Miller rushed for 54 yards, while Rod Streater continues to be a heavy sleeper among the camp bodies, leading the team with 7 receptions for 43 yards.

Raiders Fall to Cowboys in Preseason Opener

A new start for the Raider organization & the Raider Nation & the debut of Dennis Allen. This game was played on an all-around defensive-minded game, but the Cowboys grabbed the edge as a field goal by Dan Bailey & two missed field goals beat the Raiders 3-0. Matt Leinart was the top passer completing 11 of 16 passes for 98 yards, after Terrelle Pryor took over in the 2nd half completing 8 of 15 passes for 50 yards. Lonyae Miller rushed for 39 yards & rookie Rod Streater made an impression, catching 6 passes for 66 yards.

Dwight Howard to the Lakers

IT'S OVER, IT'S FINALLY OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE DWIGHTMARE IS OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! *goes apesh*t for another 10 minutes*

Ok time to catch my breath, the Dwight Howard saga is over. The Lakers have pulled it off yet again with a blockbuster trade involving the Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, & Denver Nuggets. The Lakers ship Andrew Bynum to the Sixers to acquire Dwight Howard from the Magic, while the 76ers send Andre Iguodala to the Nuggets to acquire Jason Richardson from the Magic, & the Nuggets send Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic, Moe Harkless, & 3 first round picks to the Magic. The deal also rumored to ship Pau Gasol to the Magic, but those rumors are false as the Lakers keep Pau & thus forming a new big 4 with Kobe, Nash, & Dwight in the mix.

Blockbuster Report: Lakers Agree to sign & trade deal with Suns for Steve Nash

Talk about setting fireworks on the 4th of July, the Lakers had some fireworks of their own as they make a huge gamble to agree on a sign & trade deal with the Phoenix Suns to acquire perennial star point guard, Steve Nash. The Suns management were rumored that they would not trade Nash to a Pacific Division rival, but that proved to be false with this blockbuster report. Nash will be turning 39 in the 2012-2013 season, but the question does he have enough gas left in the tank? The former two time MVP averaged 12.5 PPG & 10.7 Assists per game during the shortened 2011-2012 season. Even with age as their boundary & their intense head to head rivalries in the past, the back court duo of Kobe & Nash will prove to be deadly, making the Lakers instant title favorites again.
