Los Angeles Lakers 2013 NBA Draft Recap:

Round 2 Pick 48: Ryan Kelly, Forward, Duke

My thoughts: This is like the 5th year the Lakers don't pick until the second round of the NBA draft. If you look at the long list since 2008, Joe Crawford, Chinemelu Elonu, Devin Ebanks, Derrick Caracter, Darius Morris, Andrew Goudelock, Ater Majok, Robert Sacre, and now Ryan Kelly is the next recent late 2nd round pick for the Lakers. Most of the 2nd round picks we drafted are either waived after their rookie season, don't get any playing time, sent to the D-League, or never played in the NBA at all. This is quite possibly a 2nd round draft pick I'm intrigued about. Looking at his tape, his game reminds me a lot of Dirk Nowitzki, same gestures and expressions as him, which is a lot more eerie, but we all know with Duke players, most of them are good in their collegiate days, but once they make it to the NBA, they start sucking.  Ryan Kelly, though I'm intrigued with this pick and hope he gets a shot and develops as a talented player, not gonna talk all-star caliber, but a key role player. Anyway welcome to LA, Ryan Kelly, R. Kelly, Mini-Dirk.
