The Lakers missed out on another opportunity to get above .500 and opened the New Year flat after a solid December performance. Kobe Bryant was the Lakers' top performer with 36 points, 6 rebounds, and 0 assists, but couldn't rally the Lakers to a young and athletic Philadelphia 76ers squad as they fell 103-99 to start 2013. Steve Nash recorded a double-double 12 points and 10 assists. Pau Gasol added 11 points, but was 2-12 shooting from the field while MWP lead the bench with 13 points also on a poor shooting night and Jordan Hill came in 2nd off the bench with 10 points.
