Lakers Fall to Spurs Friday Night

*Stats courtesy of NBA.com and Yahoo Sports*

I managed to catch this game on live stream. Despite the loss, the Lakers continued to fight to the end. The Spurs have been the gold standard of contending under the Gregg Popovich and I'm not mad at this game one bit. Lou Williams was the Lakers' top performer, scoring 24 points off the bench to go with 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals, but the Lakers fell just short of their rally against the Spurs 116-107. Jordan Clarkson followed with 20 points. As for the starters, Nick Young lead all scorers with 22 points, Julius Randle racked up 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists, and Luol Deng chipped in 10 points.

Would the Lakers win if D'Angelo Russell played? Probably not. The Spurs are just too good of a team with their size and depth and they are solid defensively. I think the score would've been a lot closer, but the Spurs would still claw it out. As for people harping on Brandon Ingram with 4 points on 1-9 shooting during last night's game, just stop. Remember, Kobe was in the same position in his rookie year in 1996 averaging just 7 points a game off the bench and he gradually improved over time to become one of the all-time greats. Give it time with Ingram. The kid is only 19 years old. His shot will fall eventually, but everything else, he's doing great as a defender and facilitator.

Final Score: vs. San Antonio 116-107 [L]
