Lakers Fall Short vs. Nets

I didn't know that this game was pulled out from ESPN in favor of the Rockets vs. Suns game. Well at least that saved me enough time yesterday. First off, Jason Collins made his debut last night in a Nets uniform as the first openly gay NBA player and I want to acknowledge and congratulate him for that. He didn't do much yesterday, but he reminds along with upcoming NFL draft prospect, Michael Sam that it doesn't matter of sexual orientation, if you can play in the pros, you can play in the pros and unfortunately not many of us see eye to eye with that concept, which is one of the major cons being a pro sports fan.

Anyway now that that's out of the way, the Lakers couldn't follow up from their win against their arch rival Celtics, Sunday night. Pau Gasol, 2nd game back, was the Lakers' top performer with 22 points and 11 rebounds, but the Lakers' run fell just short to the Nets 108-102. Jodie Meeks added 19 points on 7-13 shooting and Kent Bazemore made his first start as a Laker scoring 17 points as both joined Gasol in double-figures. Jordan Hill and Nick Young were the top scorers off the bench as Hill racked up 11 points and 8 rebounds and Nick Young returned with the team scoring 10 points. I'm starting to notice a little regression in Kendall Marshall's game as he only dished out 7 assists and scored 2 points.

Final Score: vs. Brooklyn 108-102 [L]
