Suns Sweep Lakers in Regular Season Series + Reaction to Jack Del Rio's Coaching Staff

0-4, the Suns had the Lakers number all season and proved it by scoring 100 or more in all 4 games. Nick Young was the Lakers' top performer off the bench with 24 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists on 7-12 shooting, but the Lakers couldn't catch up to the high powered Suns as they fell in Phoenix 100-115 on the NBA's annual set of games on Martin Luther King Day. Both Wesley Johnson and Jordan Hill racked up 12 points with Johnson shooting 5-10 and Hill shooting 5-11 from the field and Jeremy Lin got inserted into the starting lineup with Kobe Bryant and Ronnie Price out with a double-double of 10 points and 10 assists.

Final Score: @ Phoenix 100-115 [L]

Reaction to Jack Del Rio's Coaching Staff (so far)

Transitioning from this Laker recap to more Raider talk, it looks like Jack Del Rio's coaching staff is coming together since his hiring. So far, I think Del Rio is assembling a good coaching staff with a lot of experience and credibility under their belt, particularly with Mike Tice being the new O-line coach and bringing in Brad Seely to become the new special teams coordinator and now the Raiders are in the process of interviewing Mike Smith for defensive coordinator. The only hiring that I'm skeptical about is the hiring of Bill Musgrave to be offensive coordinator. Obviously, we all wanted Marc Trestman to come back to the Black Hole and mold Derek Carr and I thought Trestman would be the perfect coach to mold him. When I reacted to Musgrave's hiring, I was shocked that Trestman was passed over and now he signed with Ravens to be their new OC today. I've heard that Musgrave's offense was awful, his development of QBs were awful (Matt Ryan as the exception), and he was fired by Del Rio in Jacksonville when his offense ranked at the bottom of the league. I will give a benefit of a doubt that the QBs he worked with were absolute trash (Leftwitch, Ponder, Cassel) and it's just a wait and see if he has learned from his flaws and adopted any plays from the Chip Kelly offense during his tenure with Philly this season. Other than that, I like Del Rio's hirings so far and getting Mike Smith (NO to Eric Mangini) would be icing on the cake.
