LAKERS vs. Heat Halftime Post

Score: MIA 51 LAL 46

Alright welcome in to your special halftime report between the Lakers and the 2x defending champions Miami Heat in a Christmas Day matchup where the Lakers remained competitive most of the game, but the Miami Heat have picked it up in the 2nd quarter after a sluggish start in the 1st.

I'm gonna go off with the positives since I want to leave you guys on a short halftime spending time with family on this joyful day. Just the overall competitive nature the Lakers are possessing. In the 1st quarter alone, it looked like they were taking it to the champs with the Lakers' bench outscoring the Heat's bench and it looked like the more younger lineup of the Lakers were gonna get the best of them. On the bench Xavier Henry and Jordan Hill were positives this game so far with Hill tallying 7 points and already 5 rebounds and X with 5 points. In the lineup, Pau Gasol and Jodie Meeks were positives this game so far with Meeks scoring 10 points and Gasol getting 9 points, most of Gasol's buckets were needed because the Lakers were really cold in the 2nd quarter.

Onto the negatives, too many missed shots. The Lakers had a lot of open looks, especially in the corner beyond the arc and the Lakers just continued to hit bricks on that spot. Those are shots that are not easy to unlock open and the Lakers were penetrating the Heat's stout defense and finding open players in the corner 3s and they're just not making them. Another negative so far, Nick Young shooting 1-8 from the field scoring 3 points. Obviously him and Wesley Johnson have the daunting task of defending LeBron, but other than that, Nick Young has to calm down and regain confidence. Almost shooting the game out of reach and he's just gotta calm down, this is a Christmas game against the 2x defending champs on national TV and you can't start the game by falling flat with that kind of performance to start.

To say the game is out of reach by the 2nd half is an understatement. The Lakers have to play their hearts out on both ends of the floor to pick up a huge upset. Enjoy the rest of the game and enjoy the rest of Christmas Day. After the game, I'll be sure to shorten up the full recap.
