Score: LAL 42 GS 46
Alright welcome in to the halftime report of the game between the Lakers and the Golden State Warriors where the Warriors hold on for a four point lead heading into the locker room.
The first half was an all-out scrappy, defensive battle. Typically both teams want to start fast, but a first half defensive battle made it into a slop fest.
Let's start off with positives: Jordan Hill. Currently J. Hill is the Lakers' top performer and only player in double figures scoring 14 points and 5 rebounds on 6-8 shooting. Has he been hitting the gym because his shooting form so far looked improved. A reason why Mike D'Antoni doesn't like to integrate Hill in the lineup, let alone in his run and gun system is that he can't shoot outside the paint. But this game, the way I see it, he's been working on the shooting stroke and hopefully he keeps that up in the 2nd half. The other positive this game, the defense. This Warriors team likes to start fast, living and dying by the 3, but the Lakers have held the so-called splash brothers, Curry and Thompson to 12 total points. So credit to all the defense to containing them and they've generated some turnovers too, which is why this a four point game.
Onto the negatives, the whole team needs to step up. Wesley Johnson 0-3, Chris Kaman 2-9, etc, etc. Nobody outside of Jordan Hill can buy a bucket. Overall, 35% from the field, 20% from 3 point line, and a lot of questionable shot selection. That's really the only negative portion this game.
Short halftime report, not a lot of action in the first half. Jordan Hill, keep up the good work, the rest of the Laker squad, somebody find their shot and step up because it is likely the Warriors will pick it up in the 2nd and they are a very explosive team once they get it going in the half that matters the most.
