LAKERS @ Spurs Halftime Post

Score: LAL 34 SA 61

Alright welcome in to the halftime post of the game between the Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs where the Spurs are all over the Lakers 34-61 as the Lakers close out their to Southwest road trip in San Antonio.

The Positives

Positives? Gasol 12 points and 10 rebounds. That's about all I can say about the positives this game because the there have been no pluses this game so far.

The Negatives

Shot Selection. The Lakers are shooting 26% from the field and 17% from 3 point land compared to the Spurs' 45% and 44% from 3 point land. For a long time, the Spurs have been an underrated defense under coach Pop. No surprise, head to head wise, Mike D'Antoni's offense record against Gregg Popovich and the Spurs' defense has been abysmal. Pop knows D'Antoni's style well and it's no surprise the Lakers are struggling shooting the ball and driving to the hoop just like the at Staples early in the season the last time these two teams met.

Ball Movement. As an NBA fan, you can't deny how beautiful and fundamental the Spurs play basketball making the extra pass for a better high percentage shot. The Lakers have been lacking that all game long as they only have 9 assists compared to San Antonio's 18. To break the defense of the Spurs, you have to give them a taste of their own medicine in moving the ball well and the Lakers aren't doing that.

Bottom Line

The Spurs are just that deep of a team. There's no way the Lakers can't keep up with the Spurs' full on 12 man rotation considering the short handed roster they have. If they want to get back in the game, they have to pick it up offensively and they are just ice cold right now and still feeling the fatigue after getting beat down by the Thunder at OKC last night.
