Score: OAK 3 KC 10
Alright welcome in to the halftime post of the Raiders' divisional matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs where the Chiefs have a touchdown lead heading into the 2nd half.
The Positives
Defense. Aside from the long bomb to De'Anthony Thomas where D.J. Hayden got seriously burned (c'mon man), the defense has done a solid job containing the Chiefs offense. Penalties on the Chiefs and some incomplete passes played a factor on the Chiefs' inefficiency on the offensive side, but the defense has given the Chiefs offense no room to score.
The Negatives
Special teams. Again referring back to the De'Anthony Thomas punt return for a TD. That's the main negative the whole game. It was good booming punt by Marquette King deep within the Raiders' territory and then the coverage on Thomas just was non-existent and lead to an 81 yard return to the house.
Offensive line. Khalif Barnes, please leave or just sit on the bench. Understandable that Menelik Watson is out, but two false starts and allowing a sack by Justin Houston on Derek Carr, enough said. Wisniewski also had a bad delay of game penalty. He was still calling the protection and Carr was signaling him to snap it, causing the delay. Aside from Barnes and Wiz, the O-line are just being pushed back by the Chiefs' stout defensive front.
Bottom Line
The Raiders deferred in the coin toss and will receive the 2nd half kickoff. Usually when that happens, the Raiders don't capitalize and post a quick 3 and out. Can they end that drought and put together on solid opening drive in the 3rd? Let's see what happens.
